President Bush Hosts Annual Ramadan Dinner

If this man is the aggressive cowboy he is portrayed as in Europe then I dread the day the appeasers show up:

Bush urges Muslim leaders vs. terrorism

President Bush said Monday that all responsible Muslim leaders should denounce violent extremism because terrorists follow an ideology that exploits Islam. Bush has hosted an iftar dinner annually for the last five years in the State Dining Room. Attendees included ambassadors from Islamic nations, administration officials and Muslim leaders in the Unites States. The group interrupted Bush's brief remarks once, when he said a Quran has been added to the White House library for the first time in history. First lady Laura Bush hosted a separate iftar in the executive residence for Afghan women she met during a visit to their country in March.

Quotes on Islam by President Bush

# America treasures the relationship we have with our many Muslim friends, and we respect the vibrant faith of Islam which inspires countless individuals to lead lives of honesty, integrity, and morality. This year, may Eid also be a time in which we recognize the values of progress, pluralism, and acceptance that bind us together as a Nation and a global community. By working together to advance mutual understanding, we point the way to a brighter future for all."

# "Islam brings hope and comfort to millions of people in my country, and to more than a billion people worldwide. Ramadan is also an occasion to remember that Islam gave birth to a rich civilization of learning that has benefited mankind."

I hate this kissing up to the Muslims and lying to himself and to the people. Of I forgot, he is ignorant about Islam, so he's not lying to himself.

I don't think this is ignorance, rather than political correctness ran amok. Given his position, he has to appear to be fair to all groups--although he does need to explain his cosy relationship with the Saudis. But do you honestly think John Kerry would have been better? I shudder to think where the world would be by the end of his term in office. The US needs better choices in leadership--in the meantime we need to make our viewpoints known. This means writing to your congressmen and senators and letting them know what you think. I am SO tired of Bush-bashing. Let's look at Chirac or the mayor of London, the head of the UN or any number of others who are much more corrupt than Bush will ever be.

Hope and comfort? Is that what they call it?

I guess, one man's hope and comfort is another man's terrorism, huh?

FYI--This (dinner) was started by President Clinton who was one of the biggest supporters of Muslims of any president. An example from his presidency:

Early this year, (2000) President Clinton publicly lamented the fact that Muslim Americans face "discrimination" and "intolerance" in this country. Not long afterward, the Senate passed a solemn resolution inveighing against the "discrimination and harassment" suffered by the American Muslim community.

This is from a very interesting article by Daniel Pipes, published less than a year prior to the 9/11 attacks, but AFTER the attack on the USS COLE** in October of 2000.

**Following the attack in which 17 Sailors were killed and 39 were injured, Cole was returned to the U.S. aboard the Norwegian heavy transport ship M/V Blue Marlin owned by Offshore Heavy Transport of Oslo, Norway.
