Copenhagen churchyard desecrated

Another case of desecration of Scandinavian churchyards:

Copenhagen churchyard desecrated

A graveyard in the Copenhagen suburb of Bispebjerg was desecrated last weekend. Police said the vandals had ruined around 150 graves, shattering gravestones and sculptures, most of them a part of the graveyard with predominantly Russian graves. The churchyard has been desecrated before, but never to such a great extent. Police said they were searching for technical evidence to find the perpetrators, but added that the size of the footprints indicated that a group of children had desecrated the graves.

Swede charged with "desecrating Turkish flag"

An 18 year old Swede appeared before a court in Turkey on Tuesday accused of desecrating the Turkish flag, according to the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "We presume that these court proceedings were for the issue of the arrest papers," said Sofia Karlberg at the foreign ministry's press service. The man was arrested with another, younger, Swede during the small hours of Tuesday morning. According to the tabloid Expressen, they had cut down a flag from a flagpole in Alanya. The younger boy was released due to his lower age, said the foreign ministry. The General Consulate in Istanbul is now dealing with the case.
