The Free West - a Blog

THE FREE WEST - it is time to start a blog

The title of my pages is The Free West. It is not a random title. It is something I believe in. I am a secular person but I deeply believe - in an almost religious way - in the freedoms our western societies have achieved through sacrifice, pain, suffering, and through the collective intellectual and emotional efforts of millions of human beings who have shaped our pasts. Our freedom is not a phenomenon we should take for granted. It is a miracle. The basic ‘natural’ state of human existence is marked by repression, lack of justice, hunger, the rule of tyrants, and only in the last three centuries, we see the emergence of individual freedom. Technology, sciences, the separation of church and state, helped in creating the right mindset for the development of the free spirit that independently produces its own values, its own lifestyle, and its own world - without neglecting tradition and history. The miracle of this greatest of all revolutions, the liberation of the human mind, a project that started in the Italian Renaissance and was taken to a higher level in the Enlightenment, is visible for whoever wants to see it: Western societies are the crown on human civilization.

I know exactly what you mean by religious zeal for concepts like freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, right to pursue your dream, private property...

The 'civil religion' in the United States, if properly introduced to children by an intelligent parent (especially my father), fulfills much of the scientifically-proven human need for faith.

I can't prove empirically that "all men [people] are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights" but I'll fight like a berzerker for the concept.

Will this blog morph into the new style? Or will it be a new location? If so, make sure you give us a link.

Afterall, what would we do without you working "to spread his confusion to others, thus making them less able to understand and come to terms with the culture of many of our immigrants," (Bjorn Stark previous post)

HA, HA, HA, what a nutcase...

The distinguishing characteristic of Western civilisation is the freedom to think and disseminate ideas that are uncomfortable, and to do so, without fear for one's life or danger to ones family. It is this freedom that was fought for through successive generations, and it was the attainment of this that lead to the blossoming of civilisation, as we know it.

It is an undeniable fact that the presence of Muslims in the West has seriously compromised this most cherished of all Western values, or as V.S.Naipaul would put it, this most cherished of all Universal values. The consequence of this is that the progress of civilisation itself is threatened and may well bring about its demise. We see this in every aspect of our society, from authors of books critical of Islam, newspapers that are in fear in a similar manner, Muslims who are afraid to leave Islam, and right down to ordinary citizens. The signs were there for anyone to notice it at the time of the Rusdhie affair. I wrote to papers at the time, in the same vein as I write the above, pointing out the huge implications of appeasing Khomeini's fatwa. We are now paying for such appeasement.

Fear has, and always has been the first symptom of a society that is being ravaged by Islam. This fear is inculcated and encouraged by all Muslims, whether they be Jihadi terrorists or moderate Muslim leaders, who warn us that if we do not listen to the growing alienation of young Muslims, there will be an explosion of anger from the Muslim community in the West. In every case, Muslims try to paralyse the victim society with fear of the Muslim and Islam. The way forward is clear. We must not be frightened to take actions, even if they are inimical with some of our cherished values, for the stakes are too high.

To combat the fear, the editor of Jyllands-Posten correctly identified the symptoms and applied the corrective measure. This measure will have to be continuously applied despite the threat of reprisals against Denmark. The analogy is to an antibiotic one takes to combat a bacteria. One has to continue with the course. There is also another component to our fear - it is the fear of our own fierceness.

The stakes are high not just for us but for the billion muslims who are trapped in this ideology. They were and still are, the main victims of islam. Even though we suffer from the callous suicide bomber, muslims are trapped in the prison of islam, who see no exit except through deliverance by us. This is a higher cause then self-defence.
