Egypt campaigns against Denmark over cartoons

Egypt is heading a diplomatic campaign against Danish daily newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, after its recent publication of cartoons of Islam's Prophet Mohammad. The Egyptian Foreign Minister called the publication "a scandal" saying it broke laws and violated international resolutions and that an apology was due. He said the Egyptian government had been writing letters to leaders around the world to muster support, including U.S. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the head of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe. "The Arab and Muslim world must take a stand on this," he said. In answer to Egyptian and other Arab protests over the cartoons , the government said the publication took place in the context of freedom of expression.
