British prosperity on par with the poorest US states

British prosperity on par with the poorest US states

GREAT BRITAIN's steady slide down the world prosperity league tables has left it on a par with the poorest American states and cities, according to new research by the US Statistics Bureau, an official federal agency. Its findings will be seen as a fresh blow to Chancellor Gordon Brown's claim that his model for the British economy is succeeding and comes as 170 national leaders meet in New York this week to discuss poverty. Britain would be considered the fifth-poorest state in the United States and the average citizen of central London earns significantly less than his counterparts in comparatively deprived American cities such as Detroit and New Orleans, the research reveals.

Europe’s English-speaking peoples

The European Union has a single currency, but what about a single language? Since its inception, the EU has made each member state’s language one of its official tongues. Recently, even Irish, spoken at home by only a tiny minority, was granted full official status. Treating all EU languages on the same footing is a direct consequence of the formal equality of member states under the founding treaties. It is also a matter of democratic principle that laws are written in the language of every land where they apply. But the EU’s posture as a protector of linguistic diversity cannot hide the stampede towards English that is underway. The more languages, it seems, the more English. Nine out of 10 schoolchildren in the EU now learn English. Roughly half as many learn French, a quarter German and an eighth Spanish, and these numbers are falling.

We may have the choice between defeating Islam and expelling it today, or achieving Third World status tomorrow, yes.

If only enough people would understand that before it's too late.....

Fjordman,
Today is the anniversary of the day we were attacked here in America. It was the largest, but probably not the most disgusting attack of the War on Terror. The most disgusting was Beslan.

Both deserve to be remembered. And both MUST be remembered, if we are to defeat this enemy.
