US Author warns of Islamic Holy War's 'fifth column'
Near the end of the Spanish Civil War, General Emilio Mola's army was advancing on Madrid when a reporter asked him which of his four columns would capture the city. "The fifth column," he replied, meaning the rebel's militant subversive supporters inside the capital, whose efforts had already undermined it from within. The term fifth column was well known to those of my generation who lived through World War II.
