The Muslim Ghetto in the USA
Younger Muslims in particular are increasingly choosing not to assimilate into American society. Young women are deciding to wear headscarves even if their mothers did not. Muslim Students' Associations on college campuses are growing rapidly as a barrier for Muslims who prefer not to interact socially with non-Muslims. To counter their discomfort in public schools' system, Muslims are building Islamic schools as an alternative. To thwart media bias, Muslims are developing their own radio programmes and publications. Radio Islam, the first Muslim daily radio programme in the US, debuted in Chicago in September. Americans are about a decade behind Europeans in the challenges they are likely to face living side by side with their Muslim neighbours. Three generations of discrimination against Muslim residents have brought Europe to a perilous tipping point. America needs to show more tolerance towards its Muslim citizens to avoid following the path of Europe with an even further deterioration of relations between Muslims and non- Muslims. Efforts to convince Muslims not to hate Americans need to be combined with efforts to convince Americans not to hate Muslims.

More tolerance, hell. There's a difference between dhimmitude and tolerance, and I think it's the former they're after.

Bizzare. Why do Americans have to convince Muslims not to hate us.? If some Muslims hate Americans, then why don't those Muslims leave the country. They can still continue to hate Americans and will feel more at home in their country of origin.
Three generations of discriminating against moslims, in Europe? Nonsens! Our fault has been being to friendly and to tolerant, never making demands, ever understanding and making excuses. Allways the same mantra about how enriched our cultural was with the influx of analfabete immigrants and backward, non-democratical, non-western traditions. That is what got us in trouble (and settled up with costs of an estimated Euro 70.000.000.000, - (not all costs taken into account), high criminalityrates, no go areas in cities, white flight and emigration, and so on and so on. Never a "thank you for accomodating us" the accomodation seems to been seen as their right, just as us footing the bill for it.
It got us two politcal murders in less then 3 years (we have to go back to the year 1672 for our last political murder before these), MP's living in hiding and under contant fatwa's demanding their heads and so on, and so on.
We have been more then tolerant, and Americians, if you stumble on this comment, take it at heart en do something about it and do not let you be beguiled.
We know now that we are looked upon (and preached about) as lesser then pigs or dogs, a rightfull bounty for the taking.
Islam is no "religion" anymore than was Communism or National Socialism. Islam is an ideologically-based lifestyle, or a marriage of religion with an all-controlling political ideology. It should have no legal standing as a "religious faith" anymore than did Communism, which also demanded total obedience from its followers, and massacred all those who disagreed.

I would be surprised if americans behave in the same way, but with liberals everything is possible.
Jeff has it right. There is no convincing a jihadist. Their time is growing short in the US. They just don't realize it yet.
Mike, every Moslim is a Jihadist, he must be for it is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. A moslim without Jihad is as a Christian without Christ. Not every Moslims takes the weapons and makes Jihad (although one of the points of Jihad is not mingeling with infidels, make lots of childeren and trying to control the infidels in a Dhimmistate). The difference between taken to waepons to wage Jihad and not doing so is not a principal one but a gradual.

It is American tolerance that has given confidence to muslims to assert their islamic identity with the brazenness that is now evident. Islamic penetration into the education system in the US is quite simply staggering. Islamism is making inroads into America far faster then anywhere else because of America's tolerance, and to large extent, ignorance about the nature and goals of islam.
What makes this penetration even more alarming is that it is happening in America, where 9/11 occurred. The US also has a smaller fraction of muslims then Europe. Taking these into account, I'm beginning to have misgivings that America may actually slide into dhimmitude faster then Europe.
The problem in Europe and the US is that we continue to believe that all cultures are equivalent, and all prescribe to a tolerant outlook on others. We (our political elites), seem to adamantly reject the idea that certain cultures cannot be assimilated, or even want to assimilate, as a kind of rejection of our values, which we believe to be Universal in their scope. These Western values of individual freedom may well be universal from most perspectives, but muslims also fervently believe that their values are universal, while being divine as well, and as such, having greater force then our own. So we continue to tolerate the intolerant in the hope they will become like us, when all around, islamists are shouting as loud as they can, that they reject democracy, liberalism and all Western principles, as against allah's law.
As long as we continue to reject reality, Islamic penetration of Europe and America will continue with increasing pace, and as muslim populations increase. It seems we cannot and will not accept that any "other" could or would refuse our "universal values". And by the time we realise it, it may well be too late. We seem unable to recognise that other people have a different set of values that they hold dear just as much as we do ours. It is far better to let different cultures live separately, then force them to live together. If we continue on this road, I fear a civil war of the mosr unimaginable horror in the West, far worse then WWII (which was a civil war initially), fanning to a global war. As a humanist, I cannot bear the thought of such a war in the 21st century.
It is said, "Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad ". I dont think the gods have to go so far these days. All they have to do is to make our elites willfully blind and deaf.
