All-Arabic Preschool Classes in Swedish City

Malmö, Sweden's third largest city, which should be known to those following Muslim immigration to Scandinavia, has now taken another step towards its Islamization: Starting from the fall of 2005, the district of Hyllie will begin education in Arabic only for groups of immigrant preschool children. This seems logical, given that Muslims already make up close to one third of its population, and may well be the majority within a few years as native Swedes are leaving the city in record numbers. The idea is that once the children learn the language of their parents, it will become easier for them to learn Swedish as well. So the Swedish state paying for educating Swedish citizens on Swedish ground in Arabic is somehow supposed to increase integration. The idea is so ridiculous that even the regional newspaper Sydsvenskan is skeptical.

Perhaps being good dhimmis and teaching in Arabic can stop one of the latest fads in Sweden: Burning schools. At least 139 schools in Sweden burnt during 2003 alone. Such as this one in Malmö, where three schools were put on fire during one night. "Teenage boys" are suspected to behind the arson. Malmö is descending into general chaos. Fights in the city's movie theaters have become a recurrent problem. Meanwhile, immigration to Sweden continues at full speed, with most of the established parties and the Socialist government in particular keeping a lid on all attempts to start a genuine immigration debate.

We had the same in the Netherlands, the strange idea that it is necessary to master Arabic before it is possible to learn Dutch. This didn't work, as it goes without saying. If you want to master Dutch, it makes perfect sense to study and be educated in that language, I think the same holds true for learning Swedish. The result is people unable to speak, read and write an adequate or at leat acceptable Dutch.

And yes, as in Sweden, a lot of people have fled the cities and are now even leaving the country in ever growing numbers. That is what you get when you refer yourself to political correctness and a dreamed of society and ignore reality.

Thank God (?) we have at least one politician, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, having the guts to adress the problems with Islam. And yes, there is a fatwa out to kill her.

Amazing to see how initial hospitality leads to eventually giving away one's own culture.
Unfortunately this kind of indulgence will never be be reciprocated. Dealing with Arabs is usually one way traffic.
Giving in, without being returned.
Many moroccan and turkish workers in Holland ( having lived here for over 25 years) have a vocabulary restricted to three or four words. Discriminatie- Discrimination is usually the first word they master.

They should have asked us, here in So. California, if this would work.
We tried bilingual education.

They said the same thing; that this would help the immigrants learn English better.

Well, it didn't work. Even the Liberals now conceede that it was a failure and a joke.

And of course it was a failure! It wasn't designed to work i the first place. The purpose of bilingual education is multiculuralism, not integration.

As Jumbalia commented about California, we in Arizona were saddled for a time with the failed liberal education experiment known as "bilingual education." It was supposed to slowly integrate Spanish-speaking students into the mainstream over several years by teaching some classes in Spanish and some in English.

All it really did was create an educational and linguistic apartheid that instead of integrating the Spanish speakers, separated them by both language and an inferior education. What is going on in Sweden is nothing short of full segregation, eventually creating a class of people that cannot compete in Swedish society.

Of course, since the long term goal is the Islamization of Europe, this makes complete sense from immigrant point of view. If the Swedes don't act soon they will one day wake up as full fledged dhimmis in their own land.

Bilingual ed for spanish students in the US has been counter-productive. It slows down their learning of English and it devolved into a patronizing way to give spanish kids a second class education.
However, bi-lingual ed for Arabic children in Sweden is even worse. Consider:

1. Swedish is not a major world language. English is the lingua franca language supreme in the world today. Eventually those spanish kids, if they want to achieve anything, will have to learn English. These arabic speakers in Sweden may also learn English before they learn Swedish.

2. If the Swedish population is shrinking and the moslem immigrants to Sweeden are not learning Swedish, then who will carry on the Swedish language?

3. The Spanish kids in the US who are given bi-lingual ed have, for the most part, one thing in common with the rest of the population, They are of the same broad religion: Christianity. So there is the potential for religious and cultural commonality. No such thing exists for the arabic children in Sweden. They will be separated linguistically and religiously.

What's amazing is how elites hang on to the ideology of multiculturalism in the face of all evidence.

Call me an empiricist, but I think beliefs should have some grounding in the real world.

Great blog, important information.

In Canada, we may get sharia law imposed in the province of Ontario (yes, really!) because the policitians are afraid to say 'no' on account of being called 'bigots' or offending Canada's lofty goal of multiculturalism (the politicians seem to love it, but I can't say the same for the ordinary citizens I've spoken to).

Also, language issues are becoming of increasing concern, in particular new immigrants refusing to learn English or French. So often here in Toronto, all you hear is Cantonese, Farsi, and Mandarin spoken. Apparently, many children enrolled in ESL (English as a Second Language) classes were actually born in Canada and have never lived anywhere else. That's what happens when 'integration' becomes a dirty word.

On one positive note - the citizens leading the fight against sharia law in Ontario are mostly Muslims. They came to Canada from countries like Iran and Pakistan precisely because they wanted to get away from all that repression. And they certainly don't want to see sharia law in Canada. I couldn't agree more!

Lots of schools burn in France too, as well as cars, buses, trashbins and sometimes people (I remember a gay man who was set on fire by young arabs, and a security guard in Nantes).

It's interesting to note that the trend is the same with gang rapes.
